Robinhood Launches AI Agentic Trading and Virtual Cards

Robinhood introduces AI agentic trading and virtual credit cards, allowing autonomous AI agents to execute stock trades and make payments.

Robinhood Launches AI Agentic Trading and Virtual Cards

The era of autonomous finance has officially arrived. Retail brokerage giant Robinhood has announced the launch of support for AI agentic trading alongside a dedicated virtual credit card designed specifically for artificial intelligence agents.

How Robinhood’s Agentic Trading Works

The new feature allows users to set up separate, sandboxed accounts for their AI agents, connecting them to a dedicated wallet. While these digital assistants can read and analyze portfolios to formulate trading strategies, they are strictly limited to the pre-loaded balance in their assigned wallet.

To ensure user control, Robinhood has integrated real-time push notifications. Users can monitor all agent activities directly within the app, and certain transactions will require manual approval before execution.

“We’ve heard a lot of demand from our customers to bring their own tools, LLMs, and agents, and connect them to Robinhood. That is why we are launching these new products,” said Abhishek Fatehpuria, VP of Product at Robinhood.

Key Security Features for AI Trading:

  • 100% isolated wallet balances to prevent unauthorized spending.
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration to analyze concentration risk and sector exposure.
  • Built-in fraud detection with manual dispute resolution by Robinhood’s security team.

Virtual Credit Cards for AI Agents

In addition to stock trading, HOOD is debuting a virtual credit card for AI agents. This card connects to the company’s banking MCP server, enabling agents to make autonomous payments. Currently, the feature is exclusive to Robinhood Gold Card holders, who can set strict monthly spending limits and configure approval prompts for every transaction.

While the agentic trading feature is launching in beta with support for equities only, Robinhood plans to expand capabilities to options, crypto, futures, and prediction markets in the near future.
